The Problem
As Suji transitioned into a D2C business model, a new app was required to cater specifically to individual users while keeping the existing B2B Suji Teams app dedicated to professional and team-based training. The lack of a separate platform created confusion and limited Suji’s ability to effectively serve its growing consumer market.
The new app needed to address the demands of sports enthusiasts seeking a personalized training experience, including features such as 1-2-1 exercises with BFR experts, goal tracking, educational resources, and solo training capabilities. Without these functionalities, Suji risked falling short of user expectations and failing to establish a clear and impactful presence in the D2C space.
Take a look at redesign of the Suji Teams app below:
The Goals
Product Research
Research and Analysis:
Conduct detailed competitor research to identify industry trends and best practices.
Review the existing app features and functionality for gaps and improvement opportunities.
Project Planning:
Develop a comprehensive project roadmap to guide the redesign process.
Documentation and Strategy:
Cross-reference the original feature list with the current software build to ensure all features are accounted for and functioning as intended.
Design and User Experience:
Lo-Fi Wireframe to understand a basic UX flow.
Hi-Fi Wireframe to develop the UX further to present to stakeholders.
Design a basic User Interface (UI) to improve visual appeal and usability.
Revise User Experience (UX) flow charts to optimise navigation and functionality.
Hi-Fi Design to present to stakeholders.
Research and Validation:
Conduct user research reviews to gather feedback and validate proposed solutions.
Test updated design prototypes with target users to identify further refinements.
Collaboration and Iteration:
Work closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of design changes.
Continuously iterate designs based on user feedback and technical constraints.
The Solution
To deliver the Suji app, I started by conducting extensive competitor research to understand industry trends and identify opportunities to enhance the user experience. This research helped establish a clear direction for the app’s features and functionality, aligning with Suji’s D2C strategy while differentiating it from the B2B Suji Teams app.
Beginning with project planning, I developed a detailed roadmap of features to ensure a structured approach. Collaborating closely with developers, we defined the app’s architecture, core features, and integration requirements. The initial concept focused on delivering a seamless user experience with features such as 1-2-1 exercises with BFR experts, goal tracking, educational content, and solo training options.
Wireframes were created to map out the UX flow, ensuring intuitive navigation and logical feature placement. This process allowed me to validate the app’s structure and make iterative improvements based on early feedback. The user interface was then designed with a focus on simplicity and clarity, providing users with an engaging and visually appealing experience.
Throughout development, I worked within an Agile framework, adapting the roadmap as priorities evolved. User research and feedback were integral, helping to refine the app’s design and functionality. By launching with a strong set of core features and keeping future enhancements in mind, the Suji app successfully met the needs of individual users while supporting Suji’s growth into the D2C market.
Expert Partners
As part of the Suji app project, a key aspect was to include expert tuition for Suji customer covering areas such as:
Pain Mitigation, Hypertrophy, Womens Health & Recovery.
Suji Teamed up with Dr. Kelly Starret, Dr. Vonda Wright, Mathew Fraser & Josh Bridges. I along with the Suji team worked along side these experts to build a comprehensive library of content for the users.
HI-Fi Wireframe
Extensive wireframes and UX flows were created for each section of the Suji app. We started with flows attaching the programs feature to the existing app then worked out from there. The UI was later updated once a flow was established. As there were so many wireframes completed over the period of time, I have uploaded a few screenshots as examples below.

Hi-fi Designs
The below examples shows the current UI design for the Suji App. As this project is continuous the screenshots, design, UX will change overtime as we continue the UX consumer research.
